Import rail level crossings

How to import rail level crossings into NHVR Go National Network Map

Updated yesterday

Introduction

NHVR Go contains an asset module for managing roads, structures (bridges and culverts), and rail crossings.

Rail Infrastructure Managers (RIMs) can add and manage rail crossings within NHVR Go including spatially linking them to the National Network Map.

RIMs are setup in NHVR Go by the NHVR as Road Manager accounts with the role category 'Third Party'. Users must be members of the RIM Road Manager account and have the role Spatial User (supervisor) to be able to create rail level crossings.

Instructions

An alternative to adding rail crossings individually is to import them from a spreadsheet.

After logging into NHVR Go from https://portal.nhvr.gov.au.

  1. Open Rail crossings under the Roads and assets menu.

  2. Click on Import Rail Crossings button to display the Import Data tool. Click on the Download the template link to download a template for preparing the data for import.

  3. Open the template in Microsoft Excel and enter the data for each rail crossing as in the example below:

  4. Save the completed template and select either 'Upload from source file' or 'Copy and paste data' in the Import Data tool.

    1. If selecting to 'Copy and paste data' then include the column headers in the copy.

    2. Click on next

  5. The Import Data tool will validate each record and present any errors in a data grid.

  6. Any error can be corrected in the data grid. Once all errors have been corrected the Import button will be enabled.

  7. While the import is in progress the import status will change to indicate whether the rail crossing was imported successfully or not.

  8. On import complete click on Close and all successfully imported rail crossings will be available from the Rail crossings table.
